in this next unit we will be embarking on a long-term investigation of the 'soul' of southwestern high school.  your assignments, whether directly or indirectly, will involve photographing different aspects of trojan life.

our journey begins with a set of simple questions to be answered on your blog:

1] in 25 words or less, define southwestern high school.

2] without being derisive, list five different "groups" within S'western.

3] which group do you most closely identify with? why?

4] what do you think influences the groups people join? 

5] what is the 'best thing' about our school.where do we lack?
6] how can be a better school?
7] describe a typical day; from bed to bed...

in the investigation of the photos of joseph szabo [almost grown] we looked at high school life through a 35 year old lens- we saw images, which although they depicted big differences in clothing and hairstyles, also depicted an 'average' teenage life. what i need you to attempt on your blog is to answer some questions about these photos so that we can proceed on our own investigation of high school life...

1] what is the first thing that comes to mind after viewing the photos?

2] is it similar or different from what you see today?

3] do you think the photos are 'honest, or 'fabricated'? explain your answer.

4] if you were to give this assignment to someone else to shoot, what would you   consider the key ideas and areas to photograph?
